Article Abstract:

Four entertainment lawyers comprise a select group: attorneys who represent the industry bodies which put on the major award shows. John B. Quinn represents the American Motion Picture Academy of Sciences' Academy Awards show; Royal E. Blakeman is general counsel for the National Academy of Arts & Sciences' Grammy Awards; Dixon Q. Dern is represents the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Emmy Awards; Daniel Brambilla is general counsel for the Tony Awards. These attorneys deal with issues such as copyright protection and broadcast rights.

America and England may become new meccas for suits; claimants worldwide see U.S. and England as ripe for legal actions

Article Abstract:

Case law, legislation, and the most recent rules of civil procedure making the US and United Kingdom increasingly attractive for litigation, even to other countries, are discussed. Forum non conveniens is the doctrine most effectively used to preclude foreign litigation in the US. Some of the British doctrines concerning the payment of legal fees that increase its attractiveness for foreign plaintiffs are also discussed.
