Immigration law; H-1B visas for 'specialty' workers

Article Abstract:

The American Competitiveness and Workforce Improvement Act of 1998 increased the yearly quota of H1-B visas in the FY 1999-2001. These are visas for specialty workers from abroad. FY 1999 sees an increase from 65,000 to 115,000, but this limit will probably be reached by June.Employers should remember the 2-3 month delay caused by INS and Department of Labor visa processing and apply for such visas as soon as possible or look to other employment options.
