Judge to colleagues: you can't sanction me

Article Abstract:

Federal judge John H. McBryde contends that sanctions levied against him diminish his status as an Art III judge and that Congress, according to the Constitution, is the only body empowered to do that. McBryde is questioning the constitutionality of the Judicial Conduct and Disability Act of 1980, which created a framework for federal judges to investigate and try to rehabilitate their peers.

Thailand pot case has feds' faces red; stalls after stormy extradition in 1996

Article Abstract:

Defense attorneys for accused Thai drug trafficker Thanong Siriprechapong, who faces a life sentence for allegedly helping smuggle marijuana from Thailand to the US between 1973 and 1987, claim that his indictment is tainted by prosecutorial misconduct. The government claims that the incorrect information the grand jury received pales beside the untainted evidence.
