Metropolitan development and policing: the elephant in the living room

Article Abstract:

This article addresses America's shift from an urban society to a metropolitan society and the impact it has had on segregation and law enforcement. The authors argue that metropolitanization has concentrated poverty and segregation and new models of policing must be considered, such as creating a better communication system across suburban, urban, and rural police departments.
