Organizational ethical standards and organizational commitment

Article Abstract:

An organizational ethics survey was conducted involving a large service-providing organization to determine the factors that affect awareness of ethical standards and commitment of an organization. Analysis of the results indicate that employee awareness of organizational ethical standards is determined by managerial adherence, organizational enforcement and communication with peers. It was also found that employee commitment is strengthened when organizations reward employees and managers of their adherence for ethical standards.

Experiential ethics: a blueprint for personal and corporate ethics

Article Abstract:

Richard R. Niehbuhr's position that human experience is the starting point for ethical inquiry was presented as a blueprint for identifying and organizing a personal or corporate ethics. This notion is based on the acknowledgement that human beings in an organization such as a business corporation may have the same ultimate objectives, but their views on how to attain those objectives may be different. Differing views arise because of differences in human experiences.

Conflicts of interest? The ethics of usury

Article Abstract:

The definition of usury which traditionally focused on the taking of interest on loans has been changing dramatically. The modern definition of usury has shifted emphasis to the excessive interest rates on loans, not the interest per se. Objections to usury were based on concerns for the poor which started during the biblical times and have been maintained by Orthodox Judaism and Islam.
