Our numbers keep growing; ABA membership is on the rise again, and services are constantly improving

Article Abstract:

A.B.A. membership for 1996-1997 went up for the second year in a row, for a total of 392,418 members. Attorneys are 345,561 of this total, associates 7,519 and law students 39,338. The increase suggests association membership has stabilized after a decline of three years in the early part of the decade. The A.B.A. is the largest voluntary professional association in the world, and the recent membership increase runs contrary to the experience of most other US associations.
