Pensions that move from job to job

Article Abstract:

Job mobility in the legal profession has increased in these recessionary times and with it the interest in portable pension systems. Proposed legislation would introduce a combination of the Simplified Employee Pension Plan with parts of the IRS-qualified retirement plans. As with IRAs, employees would choose investments for their plans, perhaps according to guidelines for investments with a risk level suitable for a pension plan. Employers might contribute more since their costs for plan administration would be lower.

A defense lawyers adieu

Article Abstract:

Defense lawyers are opting out of a system that they feel has turned into a revolving-door situation. Convicts in Texas serve as little as 26 days of each year they have been sentenced to. The number of criminal lawyers in Texas is declining, while the crime rate is climbing. Steps should be taken that will reinstate the criminal justice system as a deterrent to crime.
