Prison suicide and prisoner coping

Article Abstract:

Issues regarding prison suicide and what the reasons for this behavior reveal for the development of a successful suicide prevention policy are discussed. Discontinuities exist between the literature on adjustment to imprisonment and that on suicides in prison, and bringing together the separate literatures can strengthen the public's appreciation for the distress experienced in prison.

Prison management trends, 1975-2025

Article Abstract:

Issues regarding trends in prison administration are discussed. No warden 25 years ago could have foreseen the massive federal court involvement in prison oversight, the rapid spread of private prisons, or the politicization of criminal justice policy. The challenges facing the warden during the next 25 years are probably just as unforeseeable.
