Quality in life and in death

Article Abstract:

A family lawyer acting as guardian ad litem for a toddler beaten into a coma by a mother's boyfriend tells his story in the hope that his volunteer work will inspire others in the fight against child abuse. The toddler died of her injuries after a month in the intensive care unit.

Fatal failures

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning both the legal and mental health system's failure to protect the public from the criminally insane are discussed. Both systems were unable to protect Penny Chang from her murder by spurned boyfriend Scott Strothers, and that story is given as an example.
