Qui tam suit is heavy on technicalities

Article Abstract:

There is a qui tam procurement fraud suit against McDonnell Douglas Corp and subsidiary Hughes Helicopter. The suit alleges that the 650 AH-64 Apache helicopters for which the firm billed the Defense Department during the 1980s had communications systems so faulty that they could not be flown safely. McDonnell Douglas billed the government $10 billion for these helicopters. Critics of the qui tam remedy claim it allows dissatisfied employees to delay important weapons programs for years with frivolous litigation.

Hellish clients, big trouble; attorneys who ignore the warning signs do so at their own peril

Article Abstract:

Recessionary times heighten an attorney's motives to accept clients regardless of warning signals, but such signals should still be heeded or an attorney may encounter psychological problems with those clients. Legal specialties where watching out for difficult clients is very important include family law and criminal law. Attorneys should also think long and hard before accepting a client who seems unduly angry.
