Reader's choice awards

Article Abstract:

Law Office Computing's third Annual Reader's Choice Awards reveals the top software and technology applications, by category, of more than 1,000 attorneys, legal professionals and law firms. The categories include word processing, software suite, time & billing, PIM, online research, litigation support, case management, legal add-on, document management and online service. As prior survey's have revealed, Corel's WordPerfect continues to lead the word processing software category. In fact, 70% of the respondents claim to use WordPerfect in their respective firms. Microsoft's Word, however, is gaining momentum in the word processing arena. Annual survey results show that 27% of Law Office's readers are using Word as compared with 15% in 1996.

Document comparison: WordPerfect 9 vs. Word 2000

Article Abstract:

Redlining capabilities of Corel's WordPerfect 9.0 word processing software are compared with those of Microsoft's Word 2000. Both products include document-comparison abilities for comparing a revised document against an original, to create a third, redlined version that shows the changes. Word's 'Document Compare' feature is relatively limited, but Word has a 'Track Changes' option, not included in WordPerfect, which redlines a document as a user types.
