Religious business ethics and political liberalism: an integrative approach

Article Abstract:

Religious business ethics are consistent with the idea of political liberalism if businesses are purely private, but are inappropriate if businesses are purely public. Since corporations are considered quasi-public, religious business ethics are inappropriate in some situations based on the context of political liberalism. Thus, managers can still invoke upon religious sources for promoting specific business policies.

The Golden Rule as a universal ethical norm

Article Abstract:

Paul Ricoeur, in his article titled 'The Golden Rule: Exegetical and Theological Perplexities,' correctly argued that the Golden Rule should be considered as a universal ethical standard for both Christians and non-Christians. However, business commentators have proposed the adoption of the Platinum Rule, a revision of the Golden Rule whereby the desires of the other person are absolutely considered.
