Strategic hostile acquisitions

Article Abstract:

Several factors should be considered before attempting a takeover. A thorough analysis of the target should be undertaken, then whether a friendly or hostile approach should be considered. A non-public approach is using bear hug letters for commencing bids. Buying shares of a target on the open market before making a bid can create a toehold position. Factors to consider when analysing a target are also discussed.
