The European Union and asylum: An illusion of protection

Article Abstract:

A Common European Asylum System composed various instruments following a transitional stage of communitarization for which the Procedural Directive adopted on 1, December, 2005, goes to the heart of the asylum mechanism. The Directive, which defines international protection on grounds of asylum in the European Union, and is predominated by the moderate progress and regressive steps that reveal the increased weight imperative issues other than that of protection, is discussed.
