The forty-sixth session of the International Law Commission

Article Abstract:

The 46th session of the International Law Commission of the United Nations, May 2-July 22, 1994, covered a number of issues, including an international criminal court, a draft code of crimes against the peace and security of mankind, state responsibility, non-navigational uses of international watercourses, and liability for transboundary harms caused by actions that are not prohibited by international law. In addition, special rapporteurs were appointed to consider reservations to treaties and the impact of state succession on nationality.

The fiftieth session of the International Law Commission

Article Abstract:

The International Law Commission's 50th session took place in Geneva, Switzerland from April 20, 1998, to June 12, 1998, and in New York, NY from July 27, 1998, to August 14, 1998. The Commission revised its general principles governing the responsibility of a state for its internationally wrongful acts. Other matters dealt with include liability for acts not prohibited by international law, reservations to treaties, diplomatic protection, and the unilateral acts of states.

The forty-ninth session of the International Law Commission

Article Abstract:

The 49th session of the UN International Law Commission met between May 12 and July 18, 1997. The Commission completed reading a draft concerning citizens rights to nationality in a dissolved state, such as the former Yugoslavia. The Commission also upheld existing treaty standards for relationships between a state and a monitoring body within the state. Working groups continued in the areas of state responsibility, unilateral acts of states and diplomatic protection.
