The future from the rearview mirror; solos have paved the way in law office management

Article Abstract:

There are many examples of individual lawyers whose new ideas have had a profound impact on the practice of law. One example is Kline D. Strong's original program on substantive legal systems which led to the publication of these systems by many state bar associations as well as the ABA's Law Practice Management Section. Sole practitioners are well placed to contribute to improvement in law practice management and have introduced many innovations to improve law practice.

WYSIWYG; clients hire solos - not necessarily large firms - for highly personalized service

Article Abstract:

The advantage a sole practitioner offers to a client is highly personalized service. Hiring a well-known partner only to have the work done by an unknown associate is not a risk with sole practitioners. Sole practitioners should, however, introduce all non-lawyers on the team who might be doing some of the work and reassure the client that the ultimate responsibility will remain the attorney's.
