The global environmental crisis

Article Abstract:

International cooperation is required to solve ecological problems such as pollution, population and resource depletion. The US must do three things to help the world process: create domestic policies, take the international initiative and enact treaties into domestic law. Countries must have both domestic environmental policies and commitments to international policies, and world law should be incorporated into national law.

Toward a world order respectful of the global ecosystem

Article Abstract:

International organization is necessary to protect the environment. Permissive exploitation is the principle of national sovereignty, using three premises. These premises are: excess capacity, local impact and compatible use. A strong world government is the only way to overcome these destructive practices, yet no such organization exists. Drastic changes are therefore needed in world politics.

The costs and benefits of regulatory and incentive systems

Article Abstract:

Gaps in Soviet laws protecting the environment occurred because only certain activities were regulated. New policies enacted will close environmentally deficient facilities, offer incentives for the use of appropriate technology and forge a link between the profitability of new market based industry and its environmental soundness.
