The new religion and the Constitution

Article Abstract:

Government funding of religious organizations to provide social services would pose difficult constitutional dilemmas. Standards of accountability and inclusion imposed on such organizations could violate religious freedom, while their absence could result in violations of the rights of those who access the services. The best solution is for government simply to refrain from funding religion.

Public accountability and faith-based organizations: a problem best avoided

Article Abstract:

Religious organizations would either have to be exempted from normal accountability standards, or have their own independence severely compromised.
