The priority of retrenchment payments in a liquidation or receivership

Article Abstract:

Australian law gives priority to payments of wages or salary and compensation for services rendered to employees for corporations in receivership or undergoing liquidation. However, the law is not clear in detail nor about certain cases which might be considered borderline. Retrenchment payments might be severance pay, payment in lieu of notice and damages or compensation awarded by courts or tribunals for breach of contract or unfair dismissal. Recent legislation has been largely cosmetic in nature.

The largest sports drinks market in Europe is Germany, which accounts for 45% of total consumption, followed by Italy at 11% and Spain at 9%. The leading brand is Quaker Oats' Gatorade, with the most rapid growth in 1994 being achieved by the Austrian energy drink Red Bull.
