Using the ADR toolbox to repair mass torts

Article Abstract:

The American Arbitration Ass'n commissioned a task force to study the role of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in resolving suits, and a nationally known mediator, Kenneth R Feinberg, who served as trustee for the Dalkon Shield Claimants Trust and court-appointed special master in the Agent Orange product-liability litigation, became the chairman. Other national ADR organizations have also given thought to the use of ADR in mass tort suits. The American Arbitration Ass'n Task Force on Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mass Torts published its recommendations in 1997.

Men as mediators in cases of sexual harassment

Article Abstract:

Using men as mediators in cases of sexual harassment can help in the development of less oppressive and more equal working relationships. All parties and key personnel should attend the mediation, as well as representatives of insurance companies with an interest in the case. This underscores how serious settlement efforts are and shows there is enough authority to resolve the dispute.
