Wal-Mart's home court; Arkansas judges own retailer's stock, but still rule on its suits

Article Abstract:

Whether litigants against Wal-Mart can find a fair hearing in Arkansas since most Arkansas judges own Wal-Mart stock is discussed. The old ABA rules required judges holding an economic interest in a party to recuse themselves, but a 1990 amendment exempted judges holding only insignificant interests.

Wal-Mart mending its ways? Retailer vows to end discovery irregularities. Still, charges persist

Article Abstract:

Allegations of the defendant's obstruction of justice in personal injury cases against Wal-Mart are discussed. The store assures that this conduct has been corrected and will not happen in the future. Wal-Mart claims to have halved the number of sanctions against it and vows to do even better.
