Web site disclosures; Sarbanes-Oxley has led to new SEC rules on the posting of important public-company information

Article Abstract:

The SEC rules on the Web site disclosure of material public-company information implement a portion of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and were also caused partly by the advent of Internet trading. Sarbanes-Oxley even requires companies to have certain ethical standards, which must be posted on their Web sites.

FCC to increase flow of wireless spectrum; new block is likely to cost less than old ones and attract new money to the mobile communications industry

Article Abstract:

Plans by the FCC to increase the capacity of the wireless spectrum are discussed. An agreement with the Department of Defense clearing large blocks of spectrum frees up the space for wireless communications, and the FCC promises to reform rules for existing licensees.

Battling digital piracy; recording industry has taken a multipronged response to illegally downloaded music

Article Abstract:

The attempt by the recording industry to prevent illegally downloaded music is discussed. Some of the many file swapping services which have sprouted up in Napsters place, and the subscription services the recording industry hopes will compete, are described.
