What's new in Blue; citation guidelines change along with the times

Article Abstract:

The 16th edition of the Bluebook will recongize the advent of the electronic age by showing how to cite electronically available documents such as Internet sources and public domain cases. This edition also aims to be more practitioner-friendly by offering step-by-step instructions for basic citations as well as cross references. Most practitioners and courts still swear by the Bluebook despite some interest in the University of Chicago's less inclusive 'Maroonbook' as a guide to citations. Some of the major changes in the 16th edition are discussed.

Uniform rules for payback time; states could not protect posh estates from creditors under proposal

Article Abstract:

A report by the National Bankruptcy Review Commission submitted to Congress in Oct 1997 limits the homestead exemption to $100,000. Debtors not claiming a homestead exemption could claim added exemptions worth $20,000. Currently, states can set their own homestead exemptions, and a few have one with no limit, allowing the shielding of expensive estates from creditors. An idea that credit-card debts no greater than the debtor's credit limit be discharged is also attracting criticism.

Blast prosecutor vows no media circus: Hartzler described as fair, low-key family man who has bomb-trial experience

Article Abstract:

Joseph A. Hartzler has been selected to lead the prosecution team for the Apr 19, 1995 bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and he believes he can provide a fair trial. Hartzler plans to limit press access by prohibiting cameras in the courtroom and not holding press conferences. He is well suited for the position because he has successfully prosecuted cases against domestic terrorists previously and has experience in forensic evidence of conspiracy bombings.
