Winning: successful strategies from 10 litigators who stand apart from the crowd

Ten top trial lawyers share their winning techniques and strategies. Although their approaches vary widely, jury selection, preparation and aggressiveness are emphasized by most. The lawyers polled were David H. Berg, Roy E. Black, Johnnie L. Cochran Jr, Joseph W. Cotchett, Susan Getzendanner, Thomas A. Moore, Vance K. Opperman, Harry M. Reasoner, Harvey M. Silets and Brendan V. Sullivan Jr.

To explain case, lawyer turns editor; preparing a booklet helps refine quantities of material and see story as a whole

Dennis P. Orr, one of the nation's top litigators according to The National Review, stresses the importance of knowing your own case. Using witnesses with an ability to convey facts within the context of a story can also be another effective strategy for the plaintiff. Maximizing the value of each witness's testimony can also advance a case in the eyes of the jury.
