Coping with conversions

Article Abstract:

Law offices that exchange word processing documents sometimes encounter formatting errors that result from conversions. A five step solution for dealing with such problems is presented. Steps include the following: turn on the paragraph mark; search for section breaks, and remove them; make the style uniform; fix footnotes; and apply appropriate styles.

WordPerfect Office 2002 vs. Microsoft Office XP: office suites face off

Article Abstract:

Corel's WordPerfect Office 2002 office suite is compared against Microsoft's Office XP in terms of ease of generating documents and performing tasks common to law practices. The comparison divides into five parts: Word 2002 vs. WordPerfect 10; Excel 2002 vs. Quattro Pro 10; MS Access 2002 vs. Paradox 10; PowerPoint 2002 vs. Corel Presentations 10; and Outlook 2002 vs. CorelCentral 10. Overall, MS Office XP wins out, although WordPerfect is preferred for word processing.
