Information, flexibility, and value added

Article Abstract:

A stylized model of the comparative statics of the expanded dispersion of a revenue function factor when the decision-take can adjust input use to the specific realization of that factor was developed. The ramifications for company level mean input use and mean revenue using Taylor series expansions were observed to depend on nontrivial relationships between second and third derivatives of the revenue technology. This indicates that empirical economic studies of the introduction of new control systems such as global positioning technology might require the estimation of third-order flexible technologies.
