Networking for foreign direct investment: the telecommunications industry and its effect on investment

Article Abstract:

The level and quality of infrastructure has an important causal relationship with foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows. Information infrastructure becomes the potentially significant source of productivity increases and economic growth, and partly due to its role in attracting investment and increasing returns on the investment. The paper finds preliminary evidence of a significant link between FDI inflows and the level of telecommunications infrastructure that is present in the host country.

Multimarket contact of US newspaper chains: circulation competition and market coordination

Article Abstract:

The impact of the US industrial structure on the local newspaper competition is examined. The Multimarket contact (MMC) between two newspaper chains, which can bring about coordination of the circulation areas in their respective newspapers in proximate circulation markets is evaluated.

The pattern and externality effect of diffusion of mobile telecommunications: the case of the OECD and Taiwan

The factors that influence the diffusion rate of mobile telecommunications in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries and Taiwan are analyzed. The differences in network externalities and significance of market competition are emphasized.
