Recent developments in private-sector personal data protection in Australia: Will there be an upside down under?

The author discusses the Australian government's administration of personal data information protection law. The administrative structure of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner is outlined and proposed national privacy codes based primarily on private industry codes are analyzed.

Protecting individual online privacy rights: making the case for a separately dedicated, independent regulatory agency

Pornography, privacy, and digital self-help

The author discusses the relationship between pornography, online privacy, and free speech. He argues that the wide-ranging availability of self-help alternatives puts into doubt the usefulness of political initiatives created to protect users from laws regulating indecent or harmful-to-minors speech.
