Double RDA for vitamin C, say researchers

Article Abstract:

A study indicates that the Recommended Daily Allowance for vitamin C should be doubled to 120 mg. The suggested dosage would optimize risk reduction of cardiovascular disease, cancer and cataract, according to researchers Balz Frei and Anitra C. Carr of the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University. A similar study headed by Mark Levine also recommended a similar dosage. These recommendations are being reviewed by the Food and Nutrition Board, the result of which is expected to be announced by the end of 1999.
