FOI battle: VA attempts to stonewall benefits probe; shoddy veteran treatment found in records

Article Abstract:

Veterans Affairs (VA) pays more than $20 billion a year in disability compensation benefits but about $572,000 veterans might be missing out on payments as they are unaware that they are eligible or have not applied. A Freedom of Information Act lawsuit (FOI) is filed for this problem and the legal battle with the VA are referred in Congress as an example of how federal agencies can spoil the public's legitimate access to documents.

Off-label RX: high percentage of drugs prescribed for uses not approved by FDA

Article Abstract:

FDA grants approval of drugs after weighing the risks of side effects against the benefits that the drugs might offer. But a large number of doctors are using off-label drugs that are actually meant for a certain kind of disease but used for a completely different disease in order to skip time and expense of going through FDA approval process but still make money from off-label drugs.

Maintaining your reporters' sanity while bringing the project home

Few tips are given to project editors on dealing with reporters during a project are discussed. Providing a group therapy, structure, time, access are few tips among them.
