FCC cannot mandate video descriptions

Article Abstract:

The US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit ruled, in the case of Motion Picture Ass'n of America v. FCC, that the FCC had no power to require videorecording producers to include video descriptions in their products as a service to the blind. The Court ruled that the requirement was a violation of the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution.

Secrecy makes status of detainees difficult to track

Article Abstract:

The status of the cases of several men being held in connection with the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks of the subsequent Afghanistan conflict is reviewed. Among these cases are those of Jose Padilla, Zacarias Moussaoui, and Yaser Esam Hamdi.
