The author examines restrictions placed on transport aircraft in Iraqi airspace due to continuing threat by Iraqi guerrillas using man-portable air-defense systems or shoulder launched missiles. Topics include electronic countermeasures, safety and security measures, and military campaigns.

Lawmakers: time to up rewards for SAMs in Iraq

US Senator Charles Schumer and Representative Steve Israel are calling on the US military to increase the money rewards it gives to Iraqis who hand it portable anti-aircraft missiles to American forces. Both legislators want the rewards to be raised by tenfold.
