The supermarket chain sued the network after it aired a story on "PrimeTime Live" about the sale of outdated and contaminated food. Food Lion successfully underplayed its misconduct and focused the case on ABC's undercover reporters and hidden cameras. The case may chill valid newsgathering techniques.
