The double vision of Euripides' 'Cyclops': an ethnographic 'Odyssey' of the satyr stage

Article Abstract:

The author discusses Euripides' allusions to the 'Odyssey' in his satyr drama 'Cyclops'. Euripides employs the ethnographic nature of Odysseus's travels in the staging of his drama, allowing his Athenian audience to at once experience the exotic nature of foreign lands and to explore and scrutinize their culture and their changing relationship with the world.
