1950s/1960s: A new force in TV
Article Abstract:
In the beginning days Independent Television (ITV) experienced losses for some time, soon it bounced back and became the main competitor for the British Broadcasting Corporation. By the end of 1957 the revenues increased dramatically making ITV as leading broadcaster in United Kingdom. Innovative dramas and more emphasis on sports events are the main reasons for this success.

Ulster Television has consistently increased its advertising share and audience share, despite general struggles in the ITV network. The article considers the channel's ability to continue its success in a rebounding market.
