ITC beats Flextech in bundling battle

Article Abstract:

Independent Television Commission has won its High Court case against Flextech, a pay-TV company, which questioned the commission's bundling regulations. The case stemmed from the issuance by the ITC of new rules, which compel cable operators to provide smaller 'bundles' of channels and abolish minimum carriage requirements between cable and satellite channels and distributors. With the High Court decision, the role of the commission as a competition authority for commercial television has been affirmed. However, the ruling was met with outrage by other pay-TV companies as ITC might interfere in matters it does not comprehend.
