Channel 4 International's 'Mayday' is one of a variety of factual programmes set for promotion at Mipcom. The four-part series which examines shipping accidents was produced by Darlow Smithson. Other notable releases include 'Models Close-Up' by David Bailey, also from Channel 4 International; 'Hutan, a natural history series from Primetime; and 'The History of Sex Appeal' from British Pathe.

BBC hails rise in Showcase buyers

Article Abstract:

BBC Worldwide reported that attendance at its BBC Showcase 99 has increased 40 percent over last year. As such, at least 330 potential buyers will attend the company's four-day sales event. A wide range of programs will be offered including dramas, children's shows, and documentaries about the Protestant paramilitary movement in Northern Ireland, the tobacco industry, and natural history.
