BBC strikes Weird deal with Theroux

Article Abstract:

BBC is nearing the completion of a two-year production agreement with US film-maker Louis Theroux. The deal, which include the relocation of both Theroux and David Mortimer, BBC features executive producer, from New York to London, UK, will result in Theroux making five specials for BBC 2 for the succeeding two years. These will also include six 50-minute episodes of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends, expected to finish production in early 1999 and another six 50-minute series that might have a different format.

Kiss Me Kate bags a second run on BBC 1

Article Abstract:

Carlton Television's "Kiss Me Kate" has been recommissioned for a second run in 1999 by BBC 1 controller Peter Salmon. BBC1 is expected to air the series for a second 6 x 30-minute series on BBC 1's program slate in the spring of 1999. The show, which features Caroline Quentin playing the role of a counselor, posted the highest ratings among BBC 1'a sitcom and comedy drama debutants for 1998. It has an average viewers of 6.3 million and a 28% audience share in its first five airings from May 4, 1998.
