The producers alliance, Pact demanding 50% of external production content quota in BBC now put the broadcaster in dilemma whether to accept it or to raise voluntarily the quota. For last three years BBC was failing to meet the independent production quota of 25% when government was assessing balance of power in the broadcasting industry.

BBC hits quota shock

The stipulated quota target for the independently produced programs was met by BBC for the first time in four years. The quota system followed by BBC is criticized for its flaws.
