Censorship not a black and white issue

Article Abstract:

Many of the television programmes that were enduringly popular in the UK in the 1960s and 1970s are now regarded as politically incorrect. These include 'The Black and White Minstrels' and 'Miss World.' In fact, these programmes were totally harmless, and did not in any way incite racism or sexism. They may have presented stereotypes, but they were actually much more benign than many modern television programmes, which often contain sex, violence and swearing.

ITS ejects BBC as facilities row escalates

Article Abstract:

The International Teleproduction Society, the trade organisation which represents facilities and studios, has suspended the BBC's membership indefinitely. This follows a considerable number of claims from its members and those of producers' alliance Pact that the BBC has been indulging in anti-competitive practices. The BBC has always denied these accusations. The trade organisation is now taking its evidence to the Office of Fair Trading.
