Changing up to fifth gear: with the financial muscle of Pearson and MAI combined with the programming expertise of Thames and Anglia, Channel 5 Broadcasting shows all the signs of going places

Article Abstract:

Channel 5 Broadcasting, winner of the fifth terrestrial licence will have 110 million pounds sterling a year to invest in programming, compared to ITV's 900 million pounds sterling. However Channel 5 Broadcasting has been able to sidestep the scheduling problem of providing a flagship news programme. It plans to place a flagship news show at 20.00, in the middle of peak time viewing, which will offer an alternative.

The widely successful CSI franchise , which is made up of three shows, is worth $2 billion according the CBS network as the eighth season of "CSI Las Vegas" opened. Fan-based piracy of television programs is a growing issue, and companies resort to VoD to combat this. The popularity of CSI and internet piracy issues are discussed.
