Does market-entry regulation matter?

Article Abstract:

The impact of changes in market structures and accompanying policies in the diversity of Finnish television's programme content between 1993 and 2002 is examined. The analysis of the media policy and measurement of television supply indicate that, in Finland, the shift from a public service led situation to that of a mixed system with two public service and two commercial nationwide channels has not resulted in drastic changes in the diversity of television programming.

Broadcasting in the 1990s: Competition, choice and inequality

Article Abstract:

The impact of casualized working relationship on gender equality based on both documentary evidence and qualitative data is explored in the UK television industry. It is observed that casualized labor market has allowed new forms of discretionary decision-making in the television industry and a number of issues addressed by equal opportunity initiatives in the late 1970s and early 1980s have re-emerged in the context of short term contracting.

TV's gambling addiction

Article Abstract:

The reasons behind the growing demand of the late night poker programmes airing on the television are analyzed. The new commission is set up to fix some restrictions to these programs so that the betting on the television is reduced.
