Emap Radio growth is fuelled by sales boom

Article Abstract:

Emap Radio's operating profit increased by 9% year-on-year to GBP22.7 million for the 12 months ending March 1998. Revenues for the same period increased by 10% to GBP70.3 million. A large part of the growth is credited to the 19% rise in airtime sales with national advertisers. Operating margins were slightly affected by the cost connected with setting up its sales house, Emap On Air. Emap On Air managing director Tom Toumazis said that part of the success has been to determine the peculiar characteristics of Emap Radio's stations and to come up with recognizable brands in Kiss and Magic.
