Extra pounds sterling 220m for BBC new media -- as unions give Thompson 7-day deadline

Article Abstract:

Quite contrary to the assurances given by BBC's director general Mark Thompson to the staff, the money saved from the 3,780 job cuts is likely to be spent on new media projects and digital services instead of core programme-making. Unions like the National Union of Journalists and Amicus are threatening to resume strike if Thompson does not come to negotiation table within seven days to discuss the issue of compulsory redundancy.
