Facilities face up to change

Article Abstract:

The broadcast facilities industry in the UK is undergoing enormous change which has been instigated by increasing competition in the media market and technological advances in post-production. A study consisting of data from 85 broadcast companies was undertaken in 1997 by Coopers & Lybrand and Broadcast. Figures from the overall industry show an increased turnover of 22% for 1995-96, with costs falling by 3.5%. The commercials market has improved since 1995 with some London-based companies reporting increased profits of 141%. Broadcast specialists take 41% of the available work.

The facilities survey 1996 looks at all aspects of the post-production industry. lcSpeculation regarding the requirement of Contract Rights Renewal (CRR) for International Television, the major advertising channel in the UK, is presented. Pros and cons of implementing of CRR to analyze the ratings of the channel are given.
