ITC report calls on ITV 'to stop the rot.' (UK Independent Television Commission)(includes summary of ITC performance reviews)

Article Abstract:

The ITV network schedule currently lacks diversity, according to the 1996 Annual Performance Review of the ITV companies and Channel 4 from the UK Independent Television Commission (ITC). There is excessive reliance on drama serials and series, with the amount of programming time devoted to children's drama, the arts and documentaries having fallen considerably. The ITC has called on ITV to investigate this problem as a matter of urgency.

Flicking the Vs

Article Abstract:

The European Parliament's call to oblige television manufacturers to fit a device which can filter out certain programmes, similar to the V-chip, has attracted mixed reactions. The main problem is that there are many different national cultures within the European Union, so views on the suitability of particular television programmes would also differ widely. This issue is soon to be discussed by European Union culture ministers.
