ITN Archive to open New York office

Article Abstract:

ITN Archive is hoping to strenghten its World News for Public Television service, a 30-minute bulletin on 43 U.S. stations, with a new archive facility in New York. The expansion is set to enhance capacity for providing news as some 70,000 hours of video, 14 million feet of film and the entire Reuters Television Archive worth 26,000 footage hours are scheduled to be housed in the Gray's Inn Road facility by January 1999. With this project, the company hopes to increase sales of footage to U.S. broadcasters and reduce share of U.K. broadcasters in total footage sales.

Deals with MTV and Extreme Sports Channel have already been signed. Planners of the event expect more than 600 press and 80 television journalists to cover the event.

Shortnose sturgeon return to New York

Article Abstract:

According to latest report released by Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, the population of endangered shortnose surgeon has increased by 400% in New York's Hudson River region. There are an estimated 61,000 fish in this river currently.
