Into the new media battleground

Article Abstract:

The contents of Office of Communications (Ofcom) review of television production and broadcasting sectors are discussed. As far as the issue of media rights is concerned, Ofcom has transferred the onus to arrive at a solution on broadcasters, and independent television production companies. Ofcom has also proposed two new windows for rights, which, both the parties are comfortable with. In this context, the steps that should be taken to resolve the media rights issue are discussed by three leaders from the industry.

Indies overpriced, says City report

Article Abstract:

According to a report by media analysts at Numis Securities, RDF Media and Shed Productions are among the independent producers that are overpriced. It may be recalled that the new terms of trade under Communications Act and the BBC's Window of Creative Competition were to give openings of additional 25% to these producers. However, the valuation of such benefits has been exaggerated.

To health, wealth and happiness

Article Abstract:

The independent sector has become confident with more commissions and an increase in the international deals plus the eagerly waiting new terms of trade and their associated benefits, While most agree that the new terms of trade would be generally beneficial to the industry, the smaller players think that it would be good for larger players and vice versa.
