Media marketing: an essential part of a free press for Africa

Article Abstract:

An independent source of revenue is instrumental for the survival of free media which plays a vital socio-economic and political role. A proper marketing strategy is essential for media freedom. Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, and Sierra Leone present varied media and political contexts and a study of the prevailing conditions aptly links media with democracy. The recent African transition from authoritarianism to democracy can be attributed to the emergence of a free press in most of the African states.

Framing of asylum seekers in Dutch regional newspapers

Article Abstract:

Dutch newspaper coverage of the establishment of centers for asylum seekers and refugees in Netherlands. The newspaper coverage was almost uniformly from a human interest standpoint rather than a political standpoint and was therefore positive.
