Mentorn strikes deal with CNBC

Article Abstract:

Mentorn Group, a UK independent producer, has reached an agreement with CNBC Europe to form a joint venture that will focus on creating a weekend programming package called Gold Card Television. Under the agreement, Mentorn and CNBC Europe will share all revenues, including those from advertising and foreign sales, they will be able to generate from Gold Card Television. Initial rollout of the service is scheduled on September 5 and 6, 1998and will follow a magazine-type format aimed at CNBC's upmarket viewers.

Film Four team plucked from Sky

Article Abstract:

Channel 4 has formed the management team of its new subscription film service, Film Four, by hiring mostly former BSkyB employees. New appointments include Julia Wrigley and David Cox, Sky Movie Show Producer and assistant producer, respectively, as Film Four's program editors and Tom Sykes, former BSkyB head of presentation, as channel manager. The new channel will launch on Nov. 1, 1998, as part of On Digital's offerings and will also be available on the analogue and digital platforms of BSkyB.
